Can you tell us about your career journey and the experiences that helped shape you into a leader?

My career path is something I have always been proud of. I started as a receptionist in an accounting firm while studying Accounting and Taxation at university after work hours. Once I completed my degree, I was appointed as a Graduate Accountant and gradually progressed into a Supervisor role, then a Manager role after about seven years in the industry. After another seven years as a Manager, I was promoted to Senior Manager for a further seven years before becoming a Director.

The experiences that helped shape me into a leader came from the opportunity to work with and learn from the many mentors I have had over the years. They inspired me to become a quality leader and to pass on my knowledge and experience in the same way that it was shared with me throughout my career.

What motivated you to pursue a leadership role within the accounting profession?

I am always excited by the opportunity to help shape someone's career and support them in achieving their goals. It is incredibly rewarding to look back on their career journey and see the role I have played in their growth and development.

What advice would you give to young professionals who aspire to become leaders in their field?

Enjoying what you do is probably the most important thing. If you genuinely enjoy your work, the commitment, dedication, and drive to succeed will naturally follow.

If you weren't an accountant, what career path do you think you would have pursued?

I would probably pursue a career in the finance industry, as I enjoy working with numbers and helping people plan for their future.

What attracted you to Salt, and what has kept you here?

The initial attraction for me was the work-life balance and the fact that the company's values and ethics aligned closely with my own. The main reason I have stayed is that we continue to maintain the qualities that attracted me here in the first place. In addition, the level of support provided by the people within the firm is truly above and beyond.

It's such an enjoyable working environment, with a genuine understanding of everyone's individual needs and circumstances. That culture of support and flexibility makes it a great place to work and has been a significant reason why I have remained with the firm.
